Saving the Summer Concert Series

posted Oct 19, 2009 8:24 PM by John Thompson   [ updated Sep 18, 2010 1:34 PM ]

"The concert series, organized each year by the Township Council's Cultural Arts Committee, lost its funding in April due to budget cuts"

"Councilman Kevin glover resuscitated the project by snagging sponsorships from four companies that serve the community: PNC Bank, Family Investors Company, Beckerman and Company insurance, and Patch.com."

"It sounds good, but it all depends on [their] participation," Malool said. "Will they do it? That's the big unknown."

In an earlier news article, Malool was quoted saying "I think it's kind of a luxury that is one of the first things to go."  Despite Mayor Malool's skepticism, the summer concert series lived on and was a resounding success.

Ultimately additional contributors chipped in including, Investors Savings BankJohn's Meat Market (voted the number one market in the State) and The Scotch Plains Management Corporation and together made it possible for this rich tradition to continue.

Register and Vote by Mail

Voter turnout is typically low during midterm elections.  Yet the stakes are still high and especially important in local elections.  Indeed in low turnout elections your vote matters more.

The Voter Registration deadline is Tuesday October 12th, 21 days before the Election.  Get you voter registration forms here if you're not registered already.

Voting can be inconvenient for many people for various reason.  Voting by mail is a convenient alternative that can be exercised by anyone for any reason now.  To vote by mail, one needs to simply get your Vote by Mail application to the County Clerk 7 days before the election.   You can also apply in person before 3pm the day before the election.
